Doyles Room. Who in the poker world doesn’t recognize the name Doyle Brunson? Not many, and if you know of “Texas Dolly” then you will be right at home at Doyles Room, a very popular poker room that is focused on friendly games and over all having a good time. The software runs smoothly and is well designed, although the separate chat window floats free from the table windows, so it can be distracting if you play multiple games.
Doyle Brunson isn’t the only legend running the show; his partner in poker is “The Mad Genius of Poker” Mike Caro, who along with Dolly offers Texas Hold'em and Omaha, with 7 Card Stud on the horizon. The traffic in real money players is on the low side, but the site is still growing, and the free roll players really enjoy the many events for them.
The standard rake is 5% up to $3 for full ring games and less on the lower limits and short handed games; players can make up for the rake with the generous loyalty points program; points can be used to buy merchandise on the site. As for the gameplay, the competition is soft, so picking up the dead money should be easy, but don’t expect to haul it in simply because there are not a lot of high-stakes games available.
Overall Doyles Rooom is great getting-started site for real and play money players, and nice place to spend some time pushing chips around.
